WhatsApp Appendices for Law Firms

Clients send screenshots, ZIP files, and recordings. The firm needs to file an organized appendix that can be cited and verified.

In litigation firms, Nispach replaces the manual arrangement of screenshots: request the chat export file from the client, drag it into the system, filter by dates and participants, and download a paginated PDF with the firm's appendix label on every page, along with a cover page displaying the SHA-256 hash of the source file. Processing takes place in the browser on the firm's computer, so the client's conversation is never uploaded to any server. The Office plan allows all firm employees to prepare unlimited appendices in the same format.

What changes in the firm's workflow

  • Instead of dozens of screenshots: A single export file from the client, from which the appendix is built.
  • Instead of manual cropping: Filtering by date range and senders, with page counts updating instantly.
  • Instead of numbering with a pen: An appendix label and sequential page number on every page, allowing pleadings to reference "Appendix D, page 12".
  • Instead of explaining its origin: A cover page detailing the conversation, participants, range, and source file name.

How to request the chat from the client

The simplest way is to send the client instructions for exporting the chat from their phone, on iPhone or Android, and request the file as-is, without opening or editing it. Clients should be advised to retain the original device and chat. A step-by-step guide is available at Exporting a chat from iPhone and Android.

A uniform format for the entire firm

Every firm marks appendices in its own way: Appendix A, Appendix 1, N/3. On the Office plan, the format is defined once, and all lawyers, interns, and administrative staff preparing an appendix receive the same stamp and cover page. This ensures appendices from different cases appear uniform before the court.

Client confidentiality

Client chats often contain sensitive information regarding third parties, children, health, and finances. Nispach reads the export file and builds the PDF within the browser, on the local computer. The chat is not sent to a server, meaning no copy is retained by us. It is still advisable to establish firm policies on how export files are received from clients and where they are stored.

The firm's next appendix, without screenshots

Drag a client's export file and view the first three pages for free. The chat remains on the firm's computer.

FAQ

Can interns and administrative staff prepare appendices?

Yes. The Office plan includes all firm employees, and everyone works with the same stamp format.

Does the system determine if the chat is admissible?

No. The admissibility and weight of the evidence are determined by the court and the parties' arguments. Nispach prepares a clear, complete, and verifiable document, and does not constitute legal advice.

What should be done when the chat is very long?

Filter to the relevant range, or split it into several appendices. If the file is expected to exceed 30MB, the system splits it into numbered parts of the same appendix.
