Arabic WhatsApp chats as PDF, right to left and joined

Arabic needs two things English tools rarely do: right-to-left order and letters that join.

To turn an Arabic WhatsApp chat into a PDF, export the chat from the phone and convert the .zip or .txt with a tool that handles Arabic shaping (letters change form and join depending on their position) and right-to-left layout. Nispach does both, keeps Hebrew and English words, phone numbers and amounts in order within Arabic lines, and produces a numbered appendix PDF with a cover page and an Arabic or Hebrew label, ready for an Israeli court.

Why Arabic breaks in most converters

Arabic letters take different shapes at the start, middle and end of a word, and most join to their neighbours. A renderer that ignores this prints isolated letters, which are hard to read. Add right-to-left order, and a tool built for English often produces text that is both disconnected and reversed.

Chats that mix three languages

Chats in Israel often move between Arabic, Hebrew and English in one message, with numbers, times and amounts in between. Each run has to keep its own direction while the message as a whole stays right to left. Nispach applies the Unicode bidirectional algorithm to every message, so a line like an address in Hebrew followed by a time in Arabic stays readable.

Arabic written in Latin or Hebrew letters

Many people write Arabic in Latin letters (Arabizi) or in Hebrew letters. These messages are kept exactly as typed, in the direction of the script they use.

Labels and cover page in Arabic

The appendix label is free text, so it can be ملحق 1, נספח א' or Appendix A, depending on the language of the filing. The cover page lists participants, date range and the SHA-256 hash of the source export.

Turn the export into an appendix

Drop in the WhatsApp export and preview the first three pages for free. The chat stays on your computer.
